Assessments and Treatments
There is a variety of different Laboratory Tests, Assessments and Treatments available at the Centre for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
Tests:
Homocysteine Test: A few drops of blood from a pin-prick is needed to measure homocysteine levels, which are implicated not only the risk for cardiovascular disease but also many other chronic diseases. Certain key nutrients, including vitamin B12, vitamin B6 and folic acid, are necessary for homocysteine metabolism.
Candida Antibody Test: This saliva test uses a very sensitive technique to measure levels of antibodies to Candida. It is used not only for detecting the presence of the infection but also as an indicator of the stage of the condition.
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis: Using hair sample, this test assesses the concentration of toxic heavy metals and essential elements and can be used as an indicator of long-term mineral levels.
Adrenal Stress Analysis: This is an important indicator of digestive immune function. Chronic intestinal infections (due to bacterial, yeast or parasites), food sensitivities, aging, antibiotics, medication and stress all decrease.
Stool Analysis: This comprehensive test assesses the widest range of intestinal conditions. It provides information on digestion, metabolism, absorption of nutrients, as well levels of beneficial and harmful bacteria, yeasts, and parasites (worms, eggs, larva and protozoa).
Thyroid Screen : A comprehensive test that measures thyroid hormones (TSH, T3, T4, free T3 and reverse T3) and antibodies. It is used for the early detection of thyroid disease and to assess thyroid function.
Food Intolerance : A food intolerance is an adverse reaction to a food or food ingredient which may manifest as a number of different reactions. These tests measure immune reactions to a number of different foods and detects delayed or hidden food sensitivities
Functional Blood Chemistry : Functional health conditions are those in which a person does not feel well, but does not show any pathological signs of disease. The markers are not used to diagnose disease and indicate the presence of a number of different potential imbalances in the normal function of your body. A true meaning of preventative medicine.
Saliva and Urine Analysis: This test measures the acid/base balance, the degree of oxidative stress and the concentration of minerals in the individual system. It offers a valuable biochemical information about cellular function and cellular metabolism in the tissues, organs, and systems of the body.
